Description:
When a turbocharger is generating maximum boost pressure at full throttle and then the throttle is suddenly closed, compressed air coming from the compressor slams against the throttle, generating extremely high pressures that travel backwards to the compressor stopping the compressor from spinning. The effects of this can cause damage to your turbocharger. To prevent this, a blow off valve is used to expel the access pressure still captured in the intake tube. The HKS Super Sequential Blow-Off Valve (SSQV) is a dual stage pull-type relief valve. The benifit of a dual stage valve is to accommodate both high boost / high horsepower applications as well as light throttle and light load conditions. Most aftermarket blow off valves are designed with a larger valve for high horsepower applications but react slow on lighter load conditions. On the other hand, smaller, fast reacting valves do not discharge the airflow capacity required for high horsepower applications and tend to slowly open and leak as boost pressure overpowers the spring. The HKS SSQV incorporates both a small primary valve for ultra quick activation, and a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The HKS SSQV also features a triple-fin discharge port design which produces a powerful, unique and aggressive blow-off sound.
